Where does blush actually go?
Blush is the easiest product to buy and the easiest to misplace. Put it in the right spot and you look awake, warm, alive. Put it a centimetre off and it can drag your whole face down or widen it in a way you did not intend.
The good news: there are really only three placements worth knowing, and your face shape tells you which one belongs to you.
The apples
The apples are the round part of your cheeks that pops when you smile. Blush here reads young and fresh, like you just came in from a walk. It suits oval and longer faces because it adds width where they have the least of it.
The risk: applied too low or too close to the nose, it slides toward the mouth and starts to look like redness rather than glow. Keep it high on the apple and stop before the line of your pupil.
The cheekbones
Swept along the top of the cheekbone toward the temple, blush lifts. This is the placement that makes people ask if you slept well. It suits round and heart-shaped faces because it draws the eye up and out instead of adding more roundness to the middle.
The draped look
Draping wraps blush from the cheekbone up around the temple and sometimes over the bridge of the nose. It looks editorial and sun-warmed at once, and it is far more forgiving than it seems because the edges are meant to be soft.
Finding yours
Stand in daylight, relax your face, then smile. Watch where the volume moves. That movement is your map. And if you would rather skip the guesswork, that is literally what our camera guide does: it finds your apples and cheekbones on your face and marks the placement for you.
